Vana Trust was founded in 2004 by Nyasha Gwatidzo with the aim of advancing good health and education for children in Africa and the UK. Our first project was St. David’s School in Zimbabwe where we have financed and supported the education of over 140 children whose lives have been affected by HIV or AIDS. 99% of all the donations we receive have gone directly to helping these children. We are feeding breakfast to 500 children at the school. We are now further expanding our activities in Africa to include training and micro-financing for women. www.vanatrust.org.uk We are also in the process of developing an eco-friendly, 8 acre, organic, therapeutic farm . Through the farm, children and young adults with challenges will be able to plant an orchard, participate in growing vegetables, herbs and caring of animals. There will even be a wildlife garden! The very basis of such activities is to facilitate the participants in developing practical and social skills with the potential, if they so desire, of leading to careers in Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Farming. It is our aim for the participants to sell their produce to farmers markets and local restaurants in the hope that, as well as the therapeutic benefits to the participants, the farm will become self sufficient. www.vanatrustfarm.org.uk
Vana Trust has opened an internet shop, iVana Boutique, to assist us in developing our Oxfordshire therapeutic organic farm and to further our work in Africa. http://www.ivanaboutique.org.uk/
